FLOWER  POWER  SWAP

For 1 flower you need :

Three 5 inch squares in different greens

One 5 inch square, color of your choice

triangles cut from 2 inch squares in white and black

Put the 4 squares into a pile, printside facing up. Make a vertical and horizontal cut through all layers to get a 4patch. The cuts can be straight or slanted, use a ruler to lead your cutter or do it free hand,  but don't measure!

Sort each pile as shown, until you have all 3 green and one flower piece showing on top

Now lay out your 4 possible blocks

Begin sewing a chain by piecing together a left and a right square. Cut after every second unit. Leave thread between the matching units to avoid a mixup. Press seams to opposite direction and join the units together to get a 4patch block

The center seams don't have to match perfectly, but if they do press the seams in a round

Repeat with the remaining pieces to finally get 4 blocks

Trim all blocks to the size you can get from the smallest block, that could be between 4 1/4 inch to 3 1/2 inch

Take a black or white triangle and put it on the flower corner as shown and sew a seam. It hasn't to be centered but take care of the size or it can get lost in the seam allowance!

Fold up the triangle to the corner to assure it's big enough

From the back trim away the excess fabric using the flower corner as your template

Turn your block back upside and trim away only the flower corner

Repeat with the other 3 blocks

Your first 4 parts of a flower block are done!

Now make enough units for 3 more flower blocks as described before, mix them up and sew them together into 4 blocks.

Trim the blocks to 6 1/2 inch square.

Here are 9 blocks already put together into a top

If you make your first 2 cuts more slanted than straight you'll get a neatly twisted or wonky block. Don't hesitate to go wild!
